Husband and I got married in June many years ago. It was a hot, sultry summer. Temps were in the upper eighties and nineties, and humidity felt like 100%. We didn't have AC in our first two places together, and we never turn it on in this house because it makes his sinuses hurt...he prefers the heat. He always says that when it's that hot, it's too hot to sleep. So you might as well amuse yourself and eventually you'll pass out from the exertion. It works for us
We celebrate every year with some private time for just us, away from our kids. We've done weekends in romantic hotels. For example, Canoe Bay in Chetek, Wisconsin, is a wonderful place...very expensive, but worth it for the amenities and the beautiful natural surroundings. We've also done weekends camping, revisiting places we used to go to BC (before children.) Be sure to pack the video camera, to film some memories you'll want to savor in the future (wink).
We've stayed overnight at various hotels and motels. Sometimes just being in a new venue can bring a sparkle to your long-term relationship. Especially fun is when you pretend you don't know each other by going separately into a bar nearby, preferably in a nice restaurant. He sits near you and starts a conversation. You talk...he moves closer. He asks you to dinner. You really shouldn't, but your husband isn't with you, and his wife isn't either. (Feels naughty already, right?) You flirt through the meal, toying with his ankle under the table. He gropes you under the tablecloth. By the time you finish coffee and dessert, you will both be ready to pop! Then it's back to the motel for some "extra-marital" fun...with your spouse!
The one place we go back to year after year, is a chain of romantic places called the Sybaris. There are five places, and we've been to three of them. One is very close to us, so we like to take advantage of the "afternoon nap rates". Yes, that's just what it sounds like. We have the room from 1-5 in the afternoon. The smallest rooms have a whirlpool next to the bed. Larger ones have a bigger whirlpool. We really like the pool suite, which has a private swimming pool, with a whirlpool next to it, and a sauna. The bed is in the other room. There's even a deluxe pool suite with three floors, where a slide starts in the top floor, where the bed is, and you slip down three floors to splash into the pool. All rooms have a bathroom with shower and bidet. Don't get me started on the bidet! Husband noticed how much I like...I mean really like bidets and offered to put one in our house. I said no, because I'd never leave the bathroom!
