Authors often join with other authors to promote each others' books. It's hard to get attention, when there are just SO many books published every single day!
One of the groups I belong to is MFRW, which is Marketing For Romance Writers.
We are on Goodreads, and I'm the librarian in charge of adding books to our list when they're published. We have the authors give us the genre. So if you're interested in, say, paranormal romances, the check out that list. If MC books are your jam, we have a category for that also. When I add new books, I leave them at "Currently reading" for a month. Then they move to "Read." But the genres remain the same.
