Not that I'm suggesting it has anything to do with the ancient blood-letting rituals of the Mayans or anything...but the publisher got unusually busy and needed an extra week to get all of the new books ready. No worries, you'll still have time to finish it before the end of the 13th Baktun of the Long-Count calendar, on December 21, 2012.
Mayans bleeding for their gods. Please make a note of the new release date for Prophecy of the Undead!

It's that time of the year again! Little kiddies get ready to knock on the doors of their neighbors and beg for treats. Now their moms have something to look forward to also! We can go trick or treating to the websites of hundreds of authors who want to give you treats! Life is good! For my treat, I'm offering one lucky reader the choice of any of my eBooks. I will choose a random winner after midnight on Monday, October 29th. So leave a comment below and tell me what part of Halloween do you enjoy the most? For me, it's the memories of my 4 kids when they were little and had supreme confidence that their Mom could make them into any character they could imagine. I learned to sew from my Mom when I was a kid who always wanted new clothes for my Barbies. She taught me how to hand-sew their clothing, so once I was old enough to use her old 1948 Singer machine, she taught me to make my own clothes also. I still have that old Singer. I won't ever give it up. There are few moving parts to break, and as long as I keep it oiled, it runs like a charm! Plus I feel my late Mother sitting next to me as I use it, since that's how she taught me. My kids gave me challenges. My oldest son loved bears, so I made him a teddy bear costume which he wore until only the hood with the ears still fit him. Likewise my third son loved rabbits, so I made him a bunny suit that he used to wear daily...until he also outgrew everything except the hood. I still have both hoods to remind me of my sons' bestial earlier natures! When my second son wanted to be Batman, I made that costume for him. A year later his younger brother wanted to be Robin, so I made that suit also, from the same pattern. I had two BFFs with twin sons, so once my boys were too big, first one's sons then the other's sons were able to be Batman and Robin! I hope some other kids are still enjoying those costumes! When my oldest son wanted to be a particular character from his favorite cartoon at the time, Dark Wing Duck, I agonized over how to do it, then made him into: Mega-volt, including an aluminum-foil-covered electrical plug on the top of his head. Most candy-givers had no idea who he was supposed to be, but my husband said that when one Dad opened the door and yelled out, "Look kids, it's Mega-volt!" it made our boy radiant with happiness. My daughter was a pumpkin when she was a baby, then a teddy bear (note: furry costumes are great when Halloween weather is cold! No need for a parka over it when the fake fur keeps them warm!) Then she was a princess, and that costume went to my BFF with 2 girls younger than her. I also made her a fairy with wings one year. Husband and I have thrown and attended adult Halloween parties, but usually we prefer to spend the time together, after the kids are in bed. Of course there was that fringed loin cloth I made him out of ultra-suede...talk about howl-worthy! Ah-oooh! So what about you? Is it the candy? The costumes? The kids' excitement? The adult parties where you can dress up? What is it you look forward to when it's Halloween time? Click image to read my guest post! My post will go live on Monday, October 29 at Noon EST. Please come on over and read about my experiences with ghosts and other paranormal events. I don't, but in this book, the heroine, Melanie, has an attitude more like the men around her than most women...at least when she's in college! Here's an excerpt to illustrate: Marcus is studying to be a doctor, on a scholarship which leaves him even less money than time to spend on himself. He has no social life except for walking into town and having one beer every other Tuesday night. The last time he was there feeling sorry for himself, a girl began choking on food, and he ran over to perform the Heimlich maneuver. Two weeks later Marcus walked into town again after dinner in the dorm, and used what little profit he had left-over from his twice-monthly government-issued living expenses check, and bought himself a beer. He looked around for familiar faces, but when he didn't see any he sought out an open chair and sat down at a table by himself. He was just starting his regular brooding over his lot in life when one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen crossed the dance floor while staring at him. He briefly managed to wonder how she could walk while undulating her hips like that, smiling as if she knew how erotic it was and enjoyed looking like a wet dream walking. Then his long-ignored desires flared to life and he felt incapable of coherent thought while the blood rapidly abandoned his brain. “Hi, you're Dr. Marcus, aren't you?” She smiled at him as if she already knew the answer. “Uh, yea, I’m Marcus,” he stammered, grateful that his dark skin would hide the blush that he could feel creeping up his body, as he responded to her overwhelming sexuality. “Well, I’m Melanie. You saved my life a couple of weeks ago, remember?” She pantomimed choking while grasping her throat. “I remember,” he said. “Well, can I sit down? Thanks.” She oozed into the chair next to Marcus and scooted it closer to him. “You know,” she leaned forward conspiratorially, “No one seemed to know much about you. You don’t come in very often, and I barely remember the name you said, since I was kind of, you know, out of it? My friends were too busy dragging me home to party… to help me forget my near-brush with death. So I’ve been asking everyone who might know you just who you are and how I could get in touch with you. Mike, you know, the bartender there, he said he gave you a beer on the house for saving one of his best customers, so they didn’t have to close the joint. Ha ha, big comedian, that guy. He said you only come in every couple of weeks; he thought it was always on a Tuesday. Well since I only live a couple of blocks away I’m in here almost every night, unless I have a theme paper due the next day, in which case I’m in the library until it closes, then I go home and write and type my paper. I’m an English major, did I mention that? Anyway, I knew I’d see you in here again sooner or later, so I’ve been watching for you every night and now here you are!” She smiled triumphantly at him. Stunned, Marcus just stared, not sure what kind of response was called for “So,” she continued, “You know, I do breathe every now and then, and that’s your cue to talk if you want to. But if you don’t, that’s okay too…I’ll just keep on talking. Anyway, I wanted to think of something I could do to really thank you for saving my life and all. If I could cook, I’d make you dinner, but I’m not really very good in the kitchen. If I could bake, I’d make you cookies, but ditto there. I don’t know you well enough to write you a poem, and anyway that’s really cheesy, considering you saved my life and all. But there is something I’m really good at.” She paused, really looking at him now, studying him, as if he were a bug under a microscope. “You’re kind of a quiet guy, aren’t you?” He nodded, still unable to make words come out, while his dick throbbed angrily against the zipper of his jeans, as if accusing him of neglect. The smell of her perfume and her skin was intoxicating him, and he was afraid that if she leaned any closer, he would not be able to stop himself from throwing her across the table and tearing her clothes off. He tried not to stare at her erect nipples that threatened to tear holes in her tee shirt, but he was still blushing from what he was imagining, so it was difficult to look her in the eye. “But you are kind of cute, in an under-fed, nerdy kind of way. Tell you what…what I’m really good at, is screwing. In fact I’m trying to get the college to let me minor in it!” She smiled at him while his jaw dropped open. “So, if you’re up for it, after we finish our beers we can stroll back to my place, where I conveniently have more beer in the fridge. Then I can really thank you for saving my life! How’s that?" Marcus had not thought it to be possible for his dick to get even harder than it was, but it twitched and throbbed as he imagined burying himself between her thighs. He briefly wondered if he had died and gone to Heaven, but he couldn't remember any kind of accident that might have precipitated him being presented with what he wanted the most. Here was one of the best-looking women he had ever seen up close: long, wavy brown hair with red streaks, light skin with freckles all over…hmm, I wonder just how much of her body has freckles? Thin, but not too thin to have nice tits, nice hips…and the heat radiating off of her was burning him even though they were barely touching. And she wasn’t expecting him to buy her dinner, or even to buy her a drink. She was offering to have sex with him, seemingly with no strings attached. In fact her hazel eyes were laughing across the table at him, as if she was daring him to refuse her. “So, what do you say, Marcus? We on, or not? Or do you need more time to think about it?” Leave me a comment below and tell me why you want to read this book...maybe you like inter-racial romances? Maybe you like strong women?
