Okay, my question is:

What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
Here's the recipe for mine.

Chocolate Raspberry Shortbread Sandwich Cookies

1 1/4 cups sifted powdered sugar + 3/4 cup butter + 1 tsp. vanilla
--Beat above ingredients together until creamy
1 cup flour  --Blend into mixture
1 cup chocolate chips, melted (in nuke or pot on stove)
--Add melted chocolate to mixture
1 cup finely chopped walnuts --blend into mixture
--Using a level tsp. of dough, shape into tiny balls.
--Place onto 2 ungreased cookie sheets (Note: they don't spread much so you can usually get at least 36 cookies per sheet)
--Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes, both sheets in oven, reversing  their positions at the 15-minute mark.
--Remove from sheets and cool.
1 jar Polaner seedless raspberry fruit spread
--Spread 1/4 tsp. fruit spread on flat side of a cookie, sandwich with another. You should get at least 36 cookies.

The best all time Christmas cookie on the planet is a lemon tart bar. It's so yummy it'll make you slap your mama! Seriously! The first time I tasted it, I swooned...well...I groaned and my eyes rolled back in my head and I ate 10 of them. So sad...but so good. I begged for the recipes and make them each year. I don't make them any other time only during the holidays. They are just like sweet potato pie. I would eat until I was sick! :-)

Over the years, I have added various ingredients to the recipe which makes them good but the original tart is still the best.

Thanks for the cookie recipe. I will try your cookies, hoping to perhaps find another great keeper.

Thanks for the opportunity to share. Best wishes to you and your family during the holidays!

Were they crescent-shaped, with cinnamon sugar and chopped walnuts? If so, I have the recipe and can send it to you. My Mom used to make those also. She only made 2 kinds of cookies, the same 2 every year. I make at least 6 kinds with 4 standards and new ones tried out each year.

Merry Christmas! My favorite holiday cookie is Lump of Coal Cookies. YUMMY! and so easy to make too. Here is the recipe.
Lump of Coal Cookies

One 16oz. package of Oreo Cookies crushed fine
5 cups of large marshmallows
4 tablespoons butter.

Directions:
(This works best on parchment, but a well buttered bottom and sides of an 8x8 baking pan should do the trick too)

1. In the bowl of a food processor fitted with the metal blade, pulse Oreos until ground.
(You can use a ziplock bag, a rolling pin and some frustration to vent if you don’t have a food processor.
2. In a large, microwave safe bowl, melt butter and marshmallows in the microwave until puffy, about 1 ½ to 2 minutes. Watch carefully and don’t let them puff too much.
3. With a buttered spoon, stir in the ground Oreos until combined.
4. Dump into your buttered pan and using a piece of wax paper on top, press mixture flat and even.
5. Let sit for at least 10 minutes.
6. Cut into chunks of “coal” and eat, (I mean serve) :)

Have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for the chance to win. <^_^>

I make shortbread for New Year's Eve. Me faither was from Glesga (Glasgow) and he taught us about Hogmanay, which is actually a bigger celebration there than Christmas (or it was when he was growing up there.) At midnight you toast with Scotch or ginger beer (or whatever you like to drink) and eat a bit of shortbread to guarantee that you'll have food and drink for the new year.

As I answer your question I am waiting for my favorite cookies to come out of the oven. They are 7 Layers or Rainbow cookies. 3 layers of colored cake with 2 layers of raspberry jam sandwiched in between a top and bottom layer of chocolate.

Seems like sugar cookies and tiny butter cookies made with finely-chopped nuts and rolled in powdered sugar are the 2 top favorites. I make my tiny balls from a recipe from the Fannie Farmer cookbook, called "Viennese pecan crescents", but I make them in 1 tsp. ball shapes because the crescents always broke getting them off the cookie sheets. They are the same as Mexican Wedding Cakes and Russian Tea cakes...I guess all cultures love butter, sugar, nuts and powdered sugar all mixed up in tiny buttery cookies!

I also have the recipes for butter cookies and snickerdoodles, so if anyone wants those recipes, just e-mail me and I'll send them to you. fiona (dot) mcgier (at) gmail.com

My favorite are my moms sugar cookies. They can't be just anyone's, they have to be my moms. I think it's the heaping spoonful of love she adds to all her baked goods. My hips thank her after the holidays and I thank her for sending me to workout extra hard for a month after the holiday.
