E-books or paperbacks? And why? 11/09/2009

Life!  With 4 kids and a husband who likes when we spend time together, (actually, I like it too!) as well as a mother with dementia that I have full care over, I barely have time to think, let alone write!  I've been trying to get to my 3 WIPs for weeks now!  (That's Works In Progress for those of you who don't hang out on authors' sites, where we post excerpts for each other, just for the practice.)  I joined CoffeeTime Romance, I have a Facebook page, I joined Goodreads, and 2 of their reader groups, one of which is aptly called "Excerpts".  I also joined Epic, which is kind of like a "union" for writers/publishers/reviewers, etc, all of whom have some finger in e-publishing.
Since I spend so much time at my laptop, either cruising through my e-mail, or writing, I've gotten really used to sitting for long periods of time, and reading/writing.  But one of the big debates raging now is over whether or not e-readers are going to explode as the next big thing, or if readers still prefer a 3-dimensional book they can hold onto.  As an author, I don't care which one you prefer, as long as you buy MY books!  ;-D
But if you want an autograph, you'll have to order the actual paperback.
The 2 biggest advantages that I can see of e-books, is that they are always cheaper, and they don't clutter up your bookshelves when you are done with them.  Most fiction novels are read once, maybe twice.  I've given away BOXES of them to the local library for their fund-raisers.  Boxes and boxes of romance novels, mostly.  But the e-reader units are still pricey.
What do you other readers think?  E-books, or paperbacks?  And why?

    I write:
    Contemporary Erotic Romance.

Contemporary: Because to me, sex without birth control is a very scary concept!
Erotic: Because I think about sex all of the time, like to read about it, and think love stories without it are boring.
Romance: Because the most important thing any of us ever experience will be finding our true love.  I enjoy learning other people's experiences.  Come share with me what happens to my characters.
